Erik Carter | Scientist & Artist
Currently a PhD student in Microbiology & Immunology at Drexel University, Erik Carter has been fascinated by viruses for nearly a decade and passionate about art his entire life. But it has only been in the past few years that he fused those two interests in the form of virus paintings. Carter finds artistic inspiration in false-color electron microscopy, protein ribbon structures, and fluorescence microscopy. His medium of choice is acrylic paint on stretched canvas.
Erik Carter was born and raised in Massachusetts and, in addition to art and science, enjoys world travel, writing fiction, reading biothrillers, and is always on the lookout for a cozy café or secondhand book shop.
