    Rubella virus is an enveloped, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus known to called a disease by the same name, rubella, also called 'German measles'. The protein structure depicted in this painting is that of a capsid protein (CP) dimer (monomers represented by differential coloration). The primary function of the capsid protein is to bind and protect the genomic RNA.
