    Influenza A virus is an enveloped virus with a segmented negative-sense RNA genome and is known for causing the flu. Influenza virus particles are generally spherical in structure but can be quite pleomorphic, even acheiving filamentous dimensions. This painting depicts influenza virions of several different morphologies.
