Human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) is an enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus known to cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The viral protein, integrase, is an enzyme that enables reverse-transcribed viral DNA to be integrated into the host cell genome. Because integrase is critical for the infectious cycle of HIV-1, it is typically a target in antiretroviral therapy.
This acrylic painting is 8" x 8" and 5/8" thick on stretched canvas.
